Micah Hudson, former 5-star WR, transferring from Texas Tech to Texas A&M: Source

Texas Tech transfer Micah Hudson, one of the top receivers in the transfer portal, committed to Texas A&M on Sunday night, a source briefed on the discussion confirmed.

Hudson was Texas Tech’s first five-star prospect and the school’s highest-ranked signee in the modern recruiting era. Despite much offseason buzz, he played sparingly as a true freshman, limited to eight games and just 107 snaps this season, and had his freshman year disrupted by injuries. News broke that he intended to enter the portal on Dec. 1, and he officially entered on Dec. 9, the first day of the winter transfer window for undergraduates. He visited A&M on Dec. 10.

Despite his limited first-year production, there was still considerable interest in Hudson as a transfer because of his immense talent. The Aggies have aggressively sought receiver help in the portal since it opened, looking to improve a crop of pass catchers that lacked elite production and struggled to consistently get open against high-end competition. No A&M receiver caught 35 passes or reached 550 receiving yards this season.

If Hudson is healthy, he should provide an immediate impact on the A&M passing game. The Aggies expect to return leading receiver Noah Thomas and former five-star recruit Terry Bussey, a speedy receiver who became more involved in the passing game in the final month of the season. A&M also expects to return quarterback Marcel Reed, who started seven games this season, including the final four of the regular season.

Hudson, from Lake Belton High in Temple, Texas, was the No. 16 player and the No. 4 in the 2024 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.
