Meet Aamir Khan heroine who faced taunts due to her dark skin, but went on to deliver hits with Sanjay Dutt, she is…

Aamir Khan and Sanjay Dutt’s heroine faced many taunts like, ‘Dark-skinned girls don’t look good on camera,’ yet she went on to deliver hits.

This actress is also a writer and a producer who is known as one of the highest-paid actresses in Marathi cinema. She has received several accolades including a National Film Award, four Filmfare Marathi Awards and four Maharashtra State Film Awards. Worked in more than 70 films, and she earned a lot of fame with the song ‘Woh Ladki Hai Kahan’ with Saif Ali Khan from Dil Chahta Hai.

The actress has worked in many big films with many big stars like Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt. But to reach this point, she had to face a lot. Not only this, the actress has also heard a lot of taunts about her complexion. At the beginning of her career, she was told not to audition for a role due to her “dark skin” and the incident left her disheartened.

We are talking about Sonali Kulkarni who revealed this in one of her interviews. “There have been people who have told me, ‘Why have I come for an audition? You know dark skin doesn’t look good on camera’. I was in class 11 at that time and I did not know anything about dark skin. I was busy doing theatre. But that comment created lot of stir and complex within me”, Sonali told PTI.

“My friend, philosopher and guide Pandit Satyadev Dubey, under whom I was studying theatre for 20 years, had told me ‘There is no fear as long as you accept that yourself.’ The films have given me enough amount of glamour, accolades, great work and wealth. There is nothing to repent about anything,” She further spoke about it.

Sonali Kulkarni faced difficulty in doing a bedroom scene with Sanjay Dutt

In a recent interview withSiddharth Kannan, Sonali recalled filming an intimate scene with Sanjay Dutt in Mission Kashmir. She shared how Sanjay asked her to relax during the sequence, which the unit had dubbed as the “bedroom scene.” “There was a scene which everyone called ‘bedroom scene’. It wasn’t needed to be named that all but that’s what people used to call it back then. The hairdresser, after my costume change, suddenly asked me, ‘You have waxed right?’ I was shocked, nervous, said maybe, yes. I was wearing a gown, and I got so nervous! I took my position and I was just not able to concentrate. My lips were quivering, hands were trembling”, she told.

“Sanjay saw that and called me. He said, ‘Ismein na, pappi bhi nahi hai, bas do dialogue hai, aur hug karna hai (this scene doesn’t even have a peck, just two lines and then a hug). I am nervous, now if even you get nervous like this, then the scene just won’t happen beta. So just relax.’ He is too cute”, the actress further recalled.

Sonali Kulkarni was also seen in Hindi films including Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Kitne Door Kitne Paas, Taxi Number 9211 and Chandu Champion.
