NEW DELHI: The govt has received over 6.2 lakh applications under the PM Internship Scheme for around 1.3 lakh opportunities, Lok Sabha was informed on Monday.
After announcing the scheme in the last budget, the govt launched its pilot project in Oct. The first set of letters were to be handed over this week, but the event has been postponed.
The pilot project covers the top 500 companies by CSR spend, and has seen an enthusiastic response from the corporate sector. The scheme targets to train one crore students over five years to help the industry get a talent pool. Through the pilot project, with Rs 840 crore allocated, ministry of corporate affairs is trying to fine-tune the plan.
In reply to a query, junior minister for corporate affairs Harsh Malhotra told Parliament that there is a concurrent monitoring, evaluation and learning framework to track outcomes and ensure corrective actions.
