Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has heaped praise on three of his fringe players who started against Richards Bay FC on Tuesday.
Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Ashley du Preez and Pule Mmodi all cracked the nod as Nabi made six changes to his usual starting line-up on the night.
The trio left Nabi impressed with their performances which helped Amakhosi return to winning ways.
Wandile Duba opened the scoring in the first half before Du Preez sealed victory in the second half.
Yanela Mbuthuma scored what proved to be a consolation goal for The Natal Rich Boyz deep into stoppage time.
Now, Nabi appears to have changed his mind about Mthethwa and Du Preez who both looked to be on their way out of Naturena.
There have been rumours of Mthethwa possibly leaving Chiefs in the January transfer window.
However, his performance against Richards Bay FC may have somehow been enough to prove to Nabi that he still has a lot to offer Chiefs.
The same can be said about Du Preez who has found himself playing second fiddle to Ranga Chivaviro.
Furthermore, the fact that Chiefs are in the market for a quality striker cast doubt on whether or not Du Preez would stay.
KAIZER CHIEFS COACH NABI IMPRESSED BY TRIO
“I am very happy with the players that started today, especially Ashley – he leaves here with more confidence going forward,” said Nabi as per SABC Sport.
“Ox, unbelievable performance, Mmodi, he did his job very well and we believe that they can [all] do better,” he added.
SHOULD THE TRIO START MORE GAMES?
