In an exclusive conversation with India.com, the actress opened up about her upcoming show, how she prepped before the shooting and her purview on her co-star Eisha Singh’s performance in the ongoing reality show Bigg Boss 18.
Mrinal Kulkarni and Eisha Singh portray as the lead characters in the show. Kulkarni plays the mother of Eisha who is on a mission to earn an authentic, original and elegant Paithani saree for her mom. Both actors display a pure dynamic that exist between a mother and a daughter. Having worked so closely with Eisha, we discussed about her journey in the show and Mrinal extended her view of the same.
Bigg Boss 18 is a widely popular reality show that features several faces from the TV screen or the film industry involved in a game of survival. We asked the ‘Son Pari’ actress if she has happened to watch the episodes and what are thoughts with her on screen daughter’s performance in the show. Kulkarni was quick to respond, “When you play a mother to a daughter, I played Mother to Eisha. When I came to know that she is going to do Bigg Boss and she will be facing all the problems there, I don’t know how she will do toh I was very scared like a mother. I was very tensed for a few days I must admit. I saw one episode she was so good in that. I knew she is going to be there and show her strengths. SO I wish her all the best and I am very happy for her. ”
‘…it is important to show regressive content…’
Mrinal Kulkarni comes bearing a an amazing experience working in the TV industry. Hindi TV serial have often been the centre of debates around regressive content. When asked about the same, the actress said, “Number of such shows are decreasing day by day and at times it happens ki pehle regression hota hai and uske baad hi progress hoti hai. So, may be it is important to show regressive content and then come out of it. If it is that, then I am happy about it.”

Mrinal is deep down in doing historical show, period dramas. Sharing her thought behind choosing the script, Kulkarni happily shared how the script piqued her interest. “I told my director that I want to go to the loom two days before we start the shoot because I want to learn that…Maine crash course kiya Paithani bunne kaand it is a very very very tough task, any handloom for that matter,” she said with a smile on her face.
‘Paithani’ will premier on Zee5 Global on November 15. Meanwhile, Kulkarni has other releases like ‘Dhai Aahkar’, ‘Gulaabi’ in her pipeline too.
