During the 80s and 90s, it was not uncommon for celebrities to receive threats from the underworld. We have all heard stories about it happening to many big stars. Somy Ali, Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend who he dated during the 90s, had made some shocking revelations. In an interview, Somy revealed that when she was dating Salman, she and Salman received threats from the underworld.
In an interaction with IANS, Somy Ali said that during the 90s, she heard about Dawood Ibrahim’s ties to Bollywood. However, when asked if she witnessed any such discussions, the actress said that she only heard conversations. But no one took Dawood’s name directly or even talked about Chota Shakeel. Ali revealed that people used to call them the ‘Underworld’.
Further in the entertainment news, Somy Ali stated that when she was shooting for Andolan with her best friend and late actress Divya Bharti, she asked her what the ‘underworld’ was. “Divya asked, ‘Do you know what mafia is?’ I said, ‘Yes, there’s the Italian mafia in America.’ Divya said, ‘Underworld and mafia are similar,” revealed Somy.
About the threat she received when she used to stay at Salman Khan’s Galaxy apartment when they were together, Somy Ali revealed that she got a call on their bedroom’s landline. Somy stated that the other person on the line threatened to abduct her and said, “Salman ko bol dena, Somy Ali ko hum utha kar le jayenge (Tell Salman that we will abduct Somy Ali). When I told Salman about this, he panicked but handled the situation. However, he never told me how he ‘handled’ it.”
Somy Ali said that when she asked Salman Khan multiple times about who the person was who called her, he told the actress that it’s better she doesn’t know about these things.
