Eviction of squatters at the Castle of Good Hope concludes

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has confirmed that eviction of the unlawful occupants at the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town has concluded.

Unlawful occupants have been relocated

This comes after the Western Cape High Court granted the eviction order in September this year.

The informal shelters and settlements surrounding the Castle were broken down on Friday and the unlawful occupants have been relocated.

‘Well done to the City of Cape Town for taking this important step in reclaiming this historic site. This will make the area safer and more dignified’ commented Premier Alan Winde on a social media post shared by Mayor Hill-Lewis.
