ANGUS Robertson was branded a “hypocrite” for failing to demand Nicola Sturgeon’s resignation over her £25,000 General Election night TV fee.
The SNP minister came under fire after previously calling for ex-Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson to quit over the same paid telly work — only to remain silent over his fellow Nat.
In resurfaced comments, he blasted Ms Davidson for appearing as a pundit as the 2019 UK vote results rolled in.
When her £7,500 fee was revealed in 2020, he tweeted: “Another reminder why Ruth Davidson should resign.”
He added that constituents “deserve an MSP that will put them first”.
But the Constitution Secretary has remained tight-lipped over former First Minister Ms Sturgeon’s ITV panel appearance in July, when the SNP collapsed to just nine MPs.
Tory MSP Annie Wells said: “He will be confirmed as a full-blown hypocrite if he doesn’t stick to the same standards for SNP politicians as he demands of others.
“Angus Robertson claimed this was a resignation matter.
“So unless he sticks to his guns he may start to look like the halfwit of Holyrood.”
Mr Robertson snubbed questions on whether Ms Sturgeon should quit.
We told yesterday how the ex-Nats leader is at the centre of a tax row for having her ITV fee paid to her new limited company instead of directly to herself.
There is concern she could avoid Nats’ higher rates of income tax.
