Cruise ship passengers warned to avoid huge disappointment | Cruise | Travel

Cruise ship passengers embarking on a luxurious getaway full of relaxation and sea air are being warned to pack one particular item to avoid huge disappointment.

When you are going on holiday, it can be a tricky task to remember everything; those getting ready to hop on board a P&O cruise should remember their smartest attire.

All P&O ships have two exciting dress code nights that apply in the evenings, and failure to adhere could result in you being denied entry and missing out on all the fun.

The two dress codes are evening casual and black tie.

For nights where the dress code is black tie, passengers should get dressed up to the nines, so make sure to pack your best tux, suit or cocktail dress.

Whilst the evening casual nights are not as laid-back as you might think, P&O urges guests to “bring out your best shirt, dress and smart.” So don’t turn up to dinner in your beach flip-flops.

Fancy dress, novelty clothing, and outfits that feature inappropriate or offensive language or images are not permitted on board.

The number of black tie events depends on how much time you spend on board.

Here is a guide on how many black tie events there will be:

On Arvia and Iona P&O ships:

2-10 nights – one

11-14 nights – two

15-19 nights – three

Rest of P&O fleet:

1-6 nights – one

7-10 nights – two

11-13 nights – three

14-19 nights – four

However, there are some venues on each ship where dress codes don’t apply, so passengers are urged to check the Horizon paper sent to guests’ cabins.

For those travelling on family-friendly ships, dress codes also don’t apply to children aged 17 and under.
