A MAJOR Scots road is closed in both directions after a lorry caught fire.
Emergency crews locked down the A77 near Ballantrae, Ayrshire in both directions just before 8pm.

Traffic Scotland advised drivers on social media to use alternative routes as the road remains shut.
The busy trunk road links Ayrshire to Stranraer and the south west including access to Cairnryan ferry port.
They added: “The A77 South of Ballantrae is CLOSED in both directions South of Stinchar Bridge due to a vehicle fire.
Motorists faced long diversions due to the closure.
All traffic leaving Stranraer heading northbound had to follow a diversion of 53 miles.
And ferry traffic at Cairnryan wanting to head north had to follow a 58-mile diversion.
Anyone heading southbound had a route of 53 miles.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they received a call about a HGV fire at around 7.55pm tonight.
They mobilised two appliances who are still on the scene.
Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
