Rangers ranked BOTTOM of the Premiership in one key stat as Kilmarnock defeat leaves them miles behind Celtic

RANGERS squandered their chance to close the gap on Celtic and Aberdeen at Rugby Park.

But it wasn’t just the Premiership table that took a hit following their crushing 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock.

They have also fallen down another leaderboard in one key statistic after their latest result.

Philippe Clement’s side now sit six points adrift from Celtic and Aberdeen in the title race after yesterday’s 2-2 draw at Parkhead kept the two sides level on points at the top.

Marley Watkin’s late goal was the difference in Ayrshire as he helped seal Killie’s first home win of the season and back-to-back victories in the league following their late comeback against Dundee before the international break.

Rangers lacked clear cut chances in front of goal and weren’t clinical any time they did get face-to-face with former stopper Robby McCrorie.

And that has become a reoccurring trend for the Light Blues away from home in the Premiership this season.

Following their latest failure to find the back of the net, Rangers are now ranked as the joint-WROST team in the league for their finishing on the road.

Rangers have been left with just one win from their first four away matches – beating Dundee United 1-0 at Tannadice last month.

They kicked off their campaign with a goalless draw against Hearts and lost to Celtic at Parkhead, while adding another defeat to their results this afternoon.

Their only goal came in that win over Jim Goodwin’s men, leaving them tied bottom of the charts in terms of the lowest scorers away from home.

Ross County are the only other team to only net one goal on the road.

Rangers rocked as another senior figure makes shock exit from Ibrox

Old Firm rivals Celtic lead the way in goals scored on their travels as Brendan Rodgers’ side have racked up 13 goals so far.

And just like the Premiership table, Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen come closest as they sit second with seven away goals to date.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat at Rugby Park, Gers boss Clement admitted his side have struggled to find their “magic” spark in front of goal.

He said: “You need in these games that kind of magic and to open up the defence. They work really hard, we know that and all respect to Kilmarnock about that, that’s why it’s a difficult place to play.

“also, on the surface you need to be even more precise than on a grass pitch.

“So, all these things you know before you come here, so you need to take those decisive moments.

“It’s what we didn’t take also with the chances we had.

“so, it’s all on us that we were not good enough to win this game.
