It may surprise you to learn that Emraan Hashmi’s grandmother, in addition to his father, was a well-known Bollywood actress in the 1950s. Known as Meharbano Mohammad changed her name to Purnima Das Verma after marrying filmmaker Bhagwan Das Verma. Emraan Hashmi’s grandfather travelled to Pakistan during India Pak partition.

His father then came back to Mumbai and made his home here. Mahesh Bhatt’s mother and Imran’s grandma Purnima were sisters. Yes, in Amitabh’s smash hit movie Zanjeer, Purnima Das Verma portrayed Amitabh’s mother.
In fact, director Mohit Suri is also related to Emraan. The Malang movie director is filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s nephew. Bhatt is the youngest brother of Mohit Suri’s mother. Therefore, Mohit is Mahesh’s own nephew, and Emraan is the son of his first cousin. Hence, Mohit, Emraan, Pooja, and Alia Bhatt are cousins. How interesting!
