A star-studded cast and a hefty budget don’t always ensure a film’s triumph. A prime example is a 2019 release where the creators pulled out all the stops to create a blockbuster. Despite their efforts, the film flopped at the box office within just three days, as audiences turned their backs on it.

In 2019, a film premiered with an all-star cast, a massive budget, and lavish sets that promised to be a box office sensation. With an extensive promotional campaign behind it, expectations were sky-high. However, against all odds, the film turned out to be a mega flop.

Released five years ago, Kalank boasted an impressive lineup featuring Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Varun Dhawan, and Alia Bhatt in leading roles. Despite the star power, this ambitious film failed to find its footing and ultimately fell flat.

Directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Fox Star Studios, this ambitious project had a budget of Rs 140 crores. However, it unfortunately faced a harsh reality, flopping spectacularly at the box office.

Despite featuring eight Bollywood superstars, the film failed to resonate with audiences. Alia Bhatt, widely regarded as a sure-fire draw, took on the lead role. With a hefty budget of around ₹140 crores, expectations were high, but it floundered right out of the gate, flopping in its very first weekend.

This star-studded film was met with outright rejection from audiences. Despite featuring prominent names, it garnered negative reviews due to a weak storyline, and even the songs failed to resonate with viewers. The combination proved disastrous, leaving little room for redemption.

Kalank, a period romantic drama with a budget of around Rs 140 crores, managed to scrape together only Rs 146 crores at the box office. Despite this modest return, the film left audiences disappointed, leading to significant losses for its producers. The high expectations were not met, marking it as a letdown in their cinematic ventures.
