Nana Patekar is one of the most highly regarded performers in the nation. From his impeccable acting, and character adaptation skills, to his attention to detail, the actor is often hailed for his versatility. He has acted in several films, plays and advertisements throughout the years. Nana Patekar, who opened the three-day group art exhibition ‘Expression’ at PHD House in New Delhi on Wednesday, spoke exclusively to india.com about his ‘Welcome‘ director Anees Bazmee and box office flops in Bollywood. In response to whether he takes things seriously in real life or not, Nana Patekar stated that it depends on the atmosphere; there won’t be any comedy if the setting and the circumstances are serious.

As the Welcome 3 release date gets nearer, Nana Patekar credited director Anees Bazmee for the 2007 film. “Mene jo bhi kuch kiya woh humare nirdeshak ki wajha se. Welcome jo hai, Aneez Bazmee jo hai unki badlaut hua. Hum toh artist hai, humko sabkuch aana chaiye lekin humse woh unhone karva liya (Whatever I did was because of his instructions. Thanks to Aneez Bazmee that Welcome happened. We are artists, we have to know everything and he knows how to get it done), ” the actor added. With positive reviews, Welcome was a sleeper hit that made over Rs. 122 crore globally. In addition to Nana Patekar, the film also starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Feroz Khan, Mallika Sherawat, and more.

For the unversed, ‘Welcome To The Jungle‘ will be a star-studded affair as the project casts Akshay Kumar, Arshad Wasi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, and Paresh Rawal, among many others. However, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor, will not be reprising their iconic character. Movie enthusiasts, however, feel that it is impossible to envision the Welcome franchise without Nana Patekar’s Uday Bhai and Anil Kapoor’s Majnu Bhai. The actor, who was a rage in the 90s, continues to have a powerful presence.

He went on to praise his Welcome co-star Paresh and late actor Irfan during the same conversation. “Humare yaha industry mein itne bade artist hai, Paresh Rawal itna behtareen, Irfan Khan humara tha, bohot bade artist hai, bohot acha karne wale hai. Kisiko mauka milta hai, kisiko woh chance mil gaya ur woh hogye (We have such a great artist here in the industry, Paresh Rawal is such a great artist, and even Irfan Khan was great, and we have many talented ones, who do great work. Those who get the opportunity, grab that chance, and then things happen for them), ” he expressed.

Speaking about the trail of box office flops with the increase in entourage cost, Nana Patekar clarified, “Mein industry ka nahi hoon, mein industry mein jaata hoon, kaam karta hoon aur vapas aata hoon apne ghar. Mein khet mein rehta hoon toh mujhe waha bohot sukoon milta hai aur yeh ek zariya hai (I am not from the industry, I work in the industry and then come back home. I live in a farm so I get a lot of peace there and this is my way of life).”

On the work front, Nana Patekar was last seen in Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘ The Vaccine War.’ The medical docu-drama starred Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen, and others in significant roles. His next film appearance will be in Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma’s film ‘Vanvaas.’ The film also stars Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, Khushboo Sundar, and Rajpal Yadav.
