McDonald’s has just rolled out a brand-new meal deal, and it’s already being hailed as the “Happy Meal for adults”.
There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of a McDonald’s feast when hunger strikes, but let’s face it – the cost can add up quickly once you’ve picked out a main, side, dessert, and drink.
While many of us are accustomed to grabbing a budget-friendly lunchtime meal deal from our local supermarkets for £5 or less, McDonald’s is now offering an alternative that might just become your new go-to.
The fast-food giant’s £5 offer, which hit stores across the UK on Wednesday [October 9], is causing quite the stir among customers eager to indulge in the bargain.
The deal includes a choice between a mayo chicken burger or cheeseburger, medium fries, a medium soft drink, and a bonus of four chicken McNuggets. For those who prefer a lighter side, there’s the option to swap out fries for a side salad, cucumber sticks, or a fruit bag with apple slices and grapes.
This meal deal represents a saving of £2.50 and is particularly special because it offers four McNuggets, which aren’t typically available to purchase separately. However, it’s important to note that this meal deal is only available for in-store purchases and not for delivery, so you’ll need to visit a McDonald’s restaurant to take advantage of it.
But remember, this is a limited-time offer, so make sure to grab it while you can.
The meal deal has been making waves on social media too, with popular foodie account @newfoodspotteruk showcasing what you can expect from the offer after a trip to their local McDonald’s. They demonstrated how easy it is to select the ‘five pound meal deal’ at the self-service machine, choosing medium fries and a medium Coca Cola to accompany their meal, and even throwing in some extra ketchup for good measure.
A spokesperson for the social media page enthused: “New £5 adult Happy Meal now at McDonald’s. This has been needed for too long. For £5 this is a bargain. You can choose from a cheeseburger or chicken mayo.”
They added: “For the sides it has to be fries every time. You can choose any drink you want but milkshakes are extra. We added cheese to the chicken mayo so it was extra. McDonald’s should have done this sooner.”
Social media users chimed in with their thoughts, one saying: “About damn time.” Another added: “Fun for all the family.”
However, some were quick to spot shortcomings. A commenter noted: “Adult Happy Meals should come with an adult toy…up your game.” “Not a Happy Meal without a toy though,” said another.
One individual, annoyed by the price, said: “Should be no more than £3. Total rip off.” “I remember when each of those items were 99p,” commented another.
McDonald’s has been contacted for comment.
