Despite being a successful businessman, Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group, has never married and has no children. The industrialist had several opportunities to fall in love. He revealed details about his romantic past in 2011, saying that he came dangerously close to marriage four times, but backed out for various reasons. He stated that he was on the verge of getting married in Los Angeles at the time, but was prevented from doing so by something concerning his grandmother.

It’s NOT widely known, but Ratan Tata had a thing for the iconic Bollywood beauty who commanded the screens during the 1970s and 80s. Before they called it quits, it was thought that they had a lengthy romantic past. She was going to be his wife, but things didn’t work out. Later on, she married another man, but their marriage didn’t last long while the business tycoon remained single.

Simi Grewal had a deep romantic relationship with her neighbour, Shatrusalyasinhji, the Maharaja of Jamnagar in England. Simi also dated Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi but he later got married to Sharmila Tagore. After that, it was believed, she began dating industrialist Ratan Tata, and the two were madly in love.

Simi stated in a previous interview that she and Ratan had a strong bond that dates back a long way. She called him a ‘perfect gentleman’ and said, “He’s perfect, he’s got a sense of humour, is modest, and is the perfect gentleman. Money was never his driving force. He’s not as relaxed in India as he is abroad.”

It has been stated that Ratan and Simi had a committed relationship, but sadly it ended without marriage. They planned to tie knots but the luck was not in their favour. In the end, Simi married Ravi Mohan, a Delhi-born aristocrat from the Chunnamal dynasty. They, however, went their separate ways in 1979.

For the unversed, Karz, Saathi, Mera Naam Joker, Do Badan, and other movies starred Simi Grewal. She also worked in Aranyer Din Ratri, directed by Satyajit Ray, as well. Her popular talk show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal featured star guests.

Ratan Tata persevered in his pursuit of love despite heartbreak. The industrial titan had other partnerships, but he was never able to locate his lifelong accomplice, he confessed to Simi. The industrialist said, “There are many times I feel lonely for not having a wife or family. There was a whole series of things, timing, my absorption in work. There were many things, I came close to getting married a few times and it didn’t work out.”
