Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld roasted The View’s Sunny Hostin for her wild theory that Melania Trump “hates” her husband and came out in favor of abortion rights to “undercut” him.
On Thursday’s The View, the hosts reacted to news that Melania Trump declared she supports abortion rights “free from any intervention or pressure from the government.” Hostin used this news to throw out a big theory about the marriage between Melania Trump and former President Donald Trump.
“I think she hates him so we can all agree on that. That’s a given. I also think that she wants to take him out. She does not want to be the first lady anymore. She destroyed the Rose Garden. Who hates Christmas? Melania Trump hates Christmas. She doesn’t want to decorate for Christmas. She doesn’t want to sleep in the same room as him. She can’t tolerate him,” Hostin said.
Gutfeld accused Hostin of projecting her own hatred of Trump onto the former first lady.
“The View can’t wait to tell us that Trump’s marriage makes them jealous. Yeah, they may be overweight and brain dead, but they claim to know what’s in Melania’s head. This week the plus sized clown show known as The View discussed the news of Melania Trump coming out in favor of abortion rights just weeks before the election which led to this moment where Sunny projected her own misery on Melania,” he said.
Panelist Kennedy agreed later and argued that Melania Trump “did a favor” for her husband by “softening” the right’s position on a “divisive” just weeks before the election. She called Hostin’s take “garden variety projection.”
While Hostin made her claims, co-host Whoopi Goldberg was quick to throw out the word “allegedly” while others questioned how Hostin could be so confident with her theory on the Trump marriage.
“How does she know all this? It’s because she’s talking about herself,” Gutfeld said.
The former first lady is in a lose-lose situation, he continued, because it’s unlikely she’d find much support if she took the opposite position against abortion.
“When anybody tries to read your mind, they can’t so have no choice but to pull the things out of their own head replace it. I find it interesting that they’re mocking Melania for disagreeing with her husband,” he said. “Would they have applauded Melania if they thought exactly the same way?”
