The Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest 2024 and India Entertainment Awards kicked off with a bang on October 3 at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai. The inaugural day featured several insightful panel discussions with prominent figures from the Indian OTT industry. The second day on October 4 commenced with several interesting panellists, including Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives season 3 stars Maheep Kapoor, Neelam Kothari, Seema Kiran Sajdeh and Bhavana Pandey, who talked about their reality series and what can one expect from season three.
Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest 2024: Neelam Kothari finds age-shaming ‘uncool’ & being called ‘aunties’: “To face the camera after certain age is not easy”
Talking about the new season, Bhavana Pandey said, “Can I be honest? We saw a little bit of our show. But the beauty of this show is that they don’t even show it to us till it’s almost release time, because, first of all, it’s very uncomfortable to watch the four of us because we all said things about each other. We are close friends, but we do not discuss that during the filming, because that’s going to affect the show. When we watch it, it is always a little uncomfortable because like did Seema put that expression? The show is made on the edit table. We’ve shot for hours and hours, and then they pick and put it together. It is a little uncomfortable, and they don’t want us to react and start calling them and say, ‘Listen, cut this out, or cut my expression out.’ They show it to us very late. I don’t even really know what the Delhi wives, as Maheep said, have said about us. I really know the scenes that we were in so I don’t know the rest of the show, but all I know is that there is a lot of masala, and, of course, there are the Delhi girls now, so there’s going to be crazy stuff.”
To this, Seema added, “All I can say is that it’s a tale of two cities, for sure, and it’s about the Delhi wives versus how life is in Mumbai. And I can say one thing for sure is that you’re getting different, better, more open, more vulnerable, version of all four of us in this season. It’s not we are all four of us have I’d like to say elevated the game. There are sides to us that even we didn’t know. When you’re with new people, it brings out another side in you. There are new shades of our personality that are on display.”
Maheep said, “We’ve not seen a lot, but what can we expect? You’ll be expecting me, watching them say things about me and me sitting at home going mad. I think that’s what you’ve got to be expecting me going crazy. But there’s going to be a lot more drama. There’s a lot more extreme individuals that come there. We establish there’s a lot more glamour. It’s a fun show. I don’t know what people might be expecting, it’s a very, very different season this year.”
Neelam Kothari also talked about the age factor and how four women of a certain age are facing camera and have revamped their careers. “To face the camera after certain age is not easy. It’s hard. Sometimes we hear truly people we know talk about our age and look down upon us because of our age and call us aunties. I think it’s very, very not cool.” Seema added, “It’s been six years since we shot season one, and we’ve seen ourselves age over the last six years.”
The series featuring Bhavana Panday, Maheep Kapoor, Neelam Kothari Soni, and Seema Kiran Sajdeh is set to launch its latest chapter, titled Fabulous Lives v/s Bollywood Wives on October 18 on Netflix. Joining the ranks are notable personalities Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Ranbir Kapoor’s sister, alongside fashionista and philanthropist Shalini Passi, and Kalyani Saha Chawla.
