The Bollywood Hungama OTT Fest, held on October 3, 2024 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai brought together leading figures from the entertainment world to examine the fast-paced evolution of India’s OTT platforms. Over the course of two days, celebrities engaged in thought-provoking discussions on the shifting dynamics of digital content creation. One of the stand out sessions was of the team of the Netflix film Maharaj (2024) comprising actors Junaid Khan and Shalini Pandey and director Siddharth P Malhotra.
Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest 2024: Junaid Khan reveals that performing the six minute Maharaj monologue was easier than dancing; jokes “I would give the editor a 12 on 10”
Junaid Khan was asked about his much loved monologue in the climax. He said, “The monologue was not something that was scaring me much. I had a Western theatre education and it teaches you a lot about monologue like how to craft them, how to layer them, etc. What did scare me a lot and what led me to spend many sleepless nights over was the dance number! That was rough. With the monologue, it was like, ‘It is my bread and butter’.”
Junaid Khan referred to the Holi dance number ‘Holi Ke Rang Ma’. Shalini Pandey laughed as she heard his number and she joked, “We should see the BTS. Someone should release it!”
The host, Hrishikesh Kannan, said that he’ll give 7 out of 10 marks to Junaid Khan for his dance. Junaid quipped, “I would give the editor a 12! They were spot on (laughs).”
