The Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest and India Entertainment Awards hosted numerous panel sessions, each designed to unpack the evolving entertainment industry. The panel A rendezvous with Team Do Patti! with contributions from Kriti Sanon and Kanika Dhillon, spoke about their film. As she gears up for her debut as a producer with Do Patti, Kriti has gained new insights into the complexities that come with filmmaking.
Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest 2024: Kriti Sanon recalls Do Patti’s Manali shoot being cancelled due to landslides as she speaks on taking producer’s duty; says, “Last week we had to change the entire location, which led to losses”
Reflecting on her experience, Kriti shared that producing is far from the easy task it might seem from an outsider’s point of view. “It may look all easy, and when we’re just on set as an actor, we wonder why this is not happening. Why is that not happening? But it takes a whole team to make sure that everything goes smoothly,” she explained. This new role has given her a deeper understanding of the effort and coordination required to manage an entire production.
She recounted a specific instance where things didn’t go according to plan, offering a glimpse into the real-time decision-making producers face. “For example, when before we were going on a shoot, we were supposed to shoot our first scheduler, a major portion of the film in Manali. And suddenly there were landslides in Manali, and we couldn’t take that decision to go anymore. So last week, we had to change the entire location, which led to losses, and then you had to figure out how to save those losses. So there’s a lot of maths that’s involved.”
Kriti also spoke about the importance of the post-production process, especially editing, which she views as a critical component of filmmaking. “I’ve always felt, as an actor, that a large part of the film is made in the editing room. As a producer, you realise that not everything that you feel that is working on set, sure works in the larger scenario, and sometimes the other way round works.”
