Won’t hesitate to give up ministerial post if our people do not get justice: Chirag Paswan

Union minister Chirag Paswan on Tuesday gave a strong message to the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre during the meeting of LJP (Ram Vilas) SC/ST wing in Patna.

The SC/ST wing had organised a special event to congratulate Paswan on becoming a Union minister.

“The day I will feel that our people are not getting justice or are not heard, I won’t hesitate in giving up my ministerial post, like my father,” Paswan said in his speech. “My father was a minister in the UPA government, too. And many things took place back then which were detrimental to the interests of Dalits. Even pictures of Babasaheb Ambedkar were not put up at public events. So, we parted ways.”

Paswan, however, maintained that he would remain in the NDA till Narendra Modi is there as the PM. He praised the PM for taking note of his concerns on Dalit issues, be it on sub-categorisation of SC/ST reservation or lateral entry into jobs.

The LJP leader also announced a rally on November 28 in Patna and said it will be important considering the upcoming assembly polls in Jharkhand and in Bihar next year.

His statement is being seen by a section of NDA and INDIA bloc leaders as an attempt to bargain for seat sharing in Jharkhand and show his strength ahead of Bihar polls.
