Tesco meal deal branded ‘worst ever’ as BB star’s choices savaged

A TikTok star’s preferred Tesco meal deal has sparked debate online after users pointed out a major flaw in her choices.

The retail giant’s bargain lunchtime offer has lured in consumers for years, and even after a recent price hike, it remains as popular as ever. For the modest sum of £3.40, Clubcard holders customers are spoilt for choice with an assortment of sandwiches, wraps, and cold pastas, alongside a sweet or savoury treat and a large selection of drinks.

Reality TV star Yinrun Huang, who is known for her appearance on Big Brother in 2023, shares glimpses of her British experiences via social media and excitedly chronicled her latest Tesco venture, declaring: “There are so many great options [for meal deals], but here are my picks.”

Yinrun then disclosed she consistently selects a chicken salad sandwich, Highland Spring strawberry-flavoured water, and cheese dunkers as her go-to snack. Conducting a “taste test” at her home, she highlighted the “three green lights” on her sandwich packet – symbols of its nutritional benefits.

“We have protein and vegetables in it,” she said, subsequently diving in and bestowing a “nine out of 10” rating for flavour. After gulping her water, she lavished it with praise, asserting: “It’s so refreshing”, and awarded it full marks.

The final instalment of her clip saw Yinrun dive into her Philadelphia Light & Tasty breadsticks with soft cheese and describe them as “brilliant”. She enthused: “So creamy and cheesy. Eight out of 10!”

Yinrun rounded off her controversial food post by urging her 604,000 followers to share their views on her selection – but many weren’t impressed. One TikTok user blasted: “No water of any sort belongs in a meal deal. It’s no longer a deal!”

Another user vehemently declared: “That is the deadest meal deal of all time.”

Meanwhile, another poured scorn stating: “This is the worst meal deal ever. I’m sorry, but strawberry water?”

Diverse opinions peppered throughout the comments section included one user recommending a “Chicken Caesar wrap, a bottle of Lucozade and Chilli Sensation crisps”, another lauding “Hoisin duck wrap, Pepsi Max or Coke and Sensations Chilli Sweet Chicken crisps” and a third voicing preference for a “no mayonnaise ham sandwich, Cheese Quavers and a Ribena”.
