I resigned because….: Arvind Kejriwal reveals why he stepped down as Delhi CM

Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday revealed why he resigned from his post.

“I resigned because I did not come to do corruption or to earn money. I came to change the politics of the country,” said Kejriwal at ‘Janta ki Adalat’.

“The lawyers said that this case can go on for ten years. I cannot live with this stain. So I thought that I would go to the court of the people,” the AAP leader said.

He said, “If I were dishonest, I would have embezzled three thousand crores meant for free electricity, would not have made rent-free for women, would not have built schools for children…They have a government in 22 states, electricity is not free anywhere, and rent is not free for women anywhere, then who is the thief…I want to ask you is Kejriwal a thief or those who sent Kejriwal to jail are?…”

This comes after AAP’s Atishi on Saturday was sworn-in to lead the national capital till February 2025, when the term of this government is scheduled to end.

Leitenant General VK Saxena administered oath of Atishi alongside her new team of Ministers which includes veterans Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain and a fresh face, Mukesh Ahlawat.Atishi was chosen unanimously as the Chief Minister designate during the AAP legislature party meeting on Tuesday, following Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation, which changed Delhi’s political landscape.
