PETALING JAYA: The Chinese community is preparing to celebrate the Lantern Festival, a traditional event symbolising family unity, next Tuesday (Sept 17), says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
In conjunction with the occasion, the Ayer Hitam MP said his service centre and Yong Peng state assemblyman, in collaboration with the Yong Peng Village Development and Security Committee, have organised the Yong Peng Lantern Festival 2024.
The MCA president said the festival will feature lanterns adorned with various animal designs, along with a range of engaging activities presented by students and local NGOs.
The festivities are set to take place over seven days at Taman Kota in Yong Peng, offering entertainment and cultural displays for residents and visitors alike, he added.
“Thanks to all the dedicated staff who worked hard to make the Yong Peng Lantern Festival a success and bring this captivating Chinese tradition to the local community.
“Special thanks are also extended to the sponsors and vendors who provided financial support and cooperation for the event.
“We invite all residents of Yong Peng and visitors to come and enjoy the programmes showcased at the Yong Peng Lantern Festival,” Dr Wee said.
