‘I’m flying from Dallas to London as I want to try Greggs’ | Weird | News

A man is travelling from Dallas to London because he wants to try Greggs for the first time.

According to Reddit, he’s planning on visiting the UK in December to spend a weekend in the city. But the biggest thing on his mind is whether to opt for a steak bake or a sausage roll.

He opened up about his foodie adventure on the platform as he wanted to seek advice as to what delicacies are best to sample on his visit, and where to try them. It looks as though he’s determined to make the right choice when it comes to his order.

In the post, he wrote: “Flying to London for a weekend to eat at Greggs for the first time. Can someone give me good locations to try?”

Naturally, Brits were keen to share their suggestions, and recommended all sorts of stores and snacks to sample. Some people couldn’t get over that he was willing to travel so far for the humble chain store.

When people in the comments told him it was a rather lengthy journey, the man replied: “I had a lot of airline miles and wanted to do something fun, and a curry bake sounded like just the thing.”

This sparked a flurry of witty comments, as one person responded with: “I was just thinking of popping out to the Philippines for a Taco Bell.” Another replied: “This is the ultimate Greggs appreciation.”

Others tried to share helpful advice though, and responded with some branches he should visit. One person quipped he should fly to Newcastle to sample the original, and “save a fortune”.

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in with: “If you’re looking for the closest, there’s Staines, Southall, Uxbridge and Hounslow. There’s a really small one at a petrol station on the Southern Perimeter Road, although it might not have everything.”

A member of staff at Greggs also offered some super good advice. The man was told, if he fancies a sandwich but they’ve run out, he should ask if they can make one.

Apparently, you can also request that your food is made fresh to order, and this was recommended. It seems to make all the difference.

The social media user said: “As a general guide: pizzas take 6-8 minutes, sausage rolls/most bakes take 18-20 minutes and any fresh made wages/chicken goujons or bites/cheese bites take 3-4 minutes using a Turbo Chef (not every shop will have one).

“You can skip waiting for fresh food entirely by downloading the Greggs App and using Click and Collect. You’ll also get a free hot drink for using it for the first time.

“Sitting in costs more due to VAT regulations governing hot food. Most of the time you can say you’re taking away, and the staff probably aren’t gonna stop you from sitting in after you’ve paid.”
