Small plane crashes into trees in N.J. town, investigators say

A small plane crashed into a group of trees Tuesday night in Sussex County, officials said.

The single-engine Champion Citabria crashed around 7 p.m. in the area of East Main Street in Sussex Borough, according to the FAA.

Only the pilot was aboard at the time of the crash, an FAA spokesperson said.

The pilot’s condition was unclear Tuesday night as local investigators could not immediately be reached for more information.

The cause of the cash is under investigation by the FAA and the NTSB.
