SIA flights between Singapore and Tokyo affected as Typhoon Ampil approaches Japan

SINGAPORE: Several Singapore Airlines (SIA) flights to and from Tokyo on Thursday (Aug 15) have been affected by weather conditions caused by Typhoon Ampil.

According to an advisory issued by the airline, eight SIA flights to and from Narita and Haneda airports were retimed. Six of these flights were between Singapore and Tokyo, including SQ12, SQ632 and SQ633.

SIA will contact the affected customers to inform them of the change in flight timings, an airline spokesperson said in response to CNA’s query on Thursday.

Customers may request to be re-accommodated on alternative flights or seek a full refund for the unused portion of their ticket.

“The safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority. SIA will continue to monitor the situation closely and make any adjustments, as necessary,” the airline said, apologising to customers for the inconvenience caused.

In an advisory on Thursday, Narita International Airport said there may be delays or cancellations to flights and ground transportation due to the typhoon.

“Please contact your airline or ground transportation company for further information,” it added.

CNA has contacted Scoot for more information.
