Transfer news live: Manchester United, Arsenal latest updates and more

Marco Silva says Fulham will sign another midfielder and central defender before the transfer window closes on August 30.

Fulham sold defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha for a club record €56million (£48m, $61.7m) in June while centre-backs Tim Ream and Tosin Adarabioyo have also departed.

Ream, who joined Charlotte FC on a free transfer this month, has been replaced by former Villarreal defender Jorge Cuenca, however the west London club are still seeking replacements for Palhinha and Tosin.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday ahead of Fulham’s trip to Manchester United on Friday, Silva said Fulham are having to rebuild this summer after losing four first-team players, with Willian also set to leave.

On Palhinha’s position, he said: “It is an area we going to sign a player, definitely. We are pleased that we have Sasa Lukic and Harrison Reed with us, they can play in that position, and higher up the pitch as well. But yes we are going to sign a player for that position.”
