Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) survived a primary challenge on Tuesday, beating Democratic challenger Don Samuels by more than 15,000 votes.
With nearly 99% of expected votes reported, Omar received more than 67,500 votes, or around 56.2%.
Her primary challenger received more than 51,500 votes, or around 42.9%.
Omar – who won reelection with 74% of the vote in 2022 – will go on to face Republican candidate Dalia al-Aqidi in the 2024 election.
This year, two members of the House progressive coalition known as “the Squad” have lost their primaries to Democratic challengers.
Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) was defeated by challenger George Latimer in June, while Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) was defeated by challenger Wesley Bell earlier this month.
