Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar Salman Khan, director Namrata Rao, producers Reema Kagti, Ritesh Sidhwani, Manish Menghani of Amazon Prime Video, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Agnihotri, Arpita Khan Sharma, Shabana Azmi and others attended the trailer launch of Amazon Prime Video’s documentary Angry Young Men, based on the lives of Salim-Javed. The trailer launch was memorable in many ways but it was Salman Khan who took the cake with his quotes.

After the trailer was played, the anchor asked Javed Akhtar to comment on the fact that a few actresses called him and Salim Khan brats. Salman Khan took over and justified their behaviour, “There were these two people writing hit after hit, hit after hit. They must have refused a lot of producers and actors. And this is where this comes from that ‘yeh log apne aap ko samajte kya hai? Inka dimaag kharab ho gaya hai’. Inka dimaag kharab nahin hua tha. Inka dimaag chal hi raha tha aur bahut achhi tarike se chal raha tha. And that’s why they were delivering hits after hits.”
He continued, “There were certain people they couldn’t work with as they didn’t like the plot or their faces! Or maybe they didn’t have the dates. They concluded that ‘inka dimaag kharab ho gaya tha’. In reality, the ones who said that, unka dimaag kharab ho gaya tha!”
Salman Khan also stated “The other writers, they write. But Salim-Javed taught. They put their life experiences, lessons from people etc. into their scripts. As for the rest of the writers, unhe cinema se utha ke cinema mein daala hai. God makes men. He makes a lot of men but this generation doesn’t want to be men. These two here were men, are still men and are born to be men.”
Angry Young Men releases on Amazon Prime Video on August 20.
