Stree 2 is being released with Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein. The increase in advance bookings since the horror comedy announcement indicates a growing level of expectation – Check reports!
Film enthusiasts will have a lot on their plates on August 15 this year as Khel Khel Mein, Vedaa, and Stree 2 compete at the box office. Will the three movies try to top the greatest-ever opening for Independence Day? Pre-sales for the horror-comedy Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, are off to a great start in India, surpassing the final opening day booking of other previous films with big-name performers.
Stree 2 Advance Booking Report
Stree 2 has sold about 50,000 tickets for the opening day (without block seats) as of 5 PM on August 10 (not including previews), as per sacnilk reports. The total amount of tickets sold were 1.75 crore. The horror comedy has already surpassed the final opening day booking total of Sarfira (starring Akshay Kumar; about 50 lakh) and Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha (starring Ajay Devgn; approximately 70 lakh), with more than three days remaining until the scheduled release on August 15.
Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy looks to be the film that will give the beleaguered screening area the much-needed boost, with a guaranteed sell-out on opening day. The pre-sales cycle will indicate whether the film makes Rs 30 crore or whether it goes on to make Rs 35 crore, even though an opening of Rs 25 crore is certain.
About Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Stree 2’
Stree, which costarred Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi, was one of the most critically and commercially successful movies of 2018. Other than Rajkummar and Shraddha Kapoor, all three actors are coming back for the sequel. The film, which was directed by Amar Kaushik, was set in the small Madhya Pradesh town of Chanderi, where men are kidnapped by an evil spirit called Stree in the middle of the night during the festival season. It was based on the Nale Ba urban tale that gained popularity in Karnataka during the 1990s.
For Stree 2, the trailer worked wonders, and the album’s hit tracks helped the campaign continue stronger after it. The moviegoer base is sufficiently excited about the sequel to horror comedy, and if the film now lives up to the hype in terms of content, the box office numbers could surge to unprecedented heights.
