Samsung to expand Galaxy AI support to Galaxy A-series phones but with limitations: report

Samsung offers its Galaxy AI features with its flagship phones and foldables. Until now, these features were limited to the top-of-the-line Samsung models. However, Samsung could be working on bringing its Galaxy AI features to select Galaxy A-series phones of 2024. A recent report surfaced online suggests that the company could expand support for Galaxy AI to some mid-range Galaxy A-lineup devices with a few caveats. Here’s what we know so far.

Samsung Galaxy AI could roll out to A-series phones

Samsung plans to expand Galaxy AI features to its Galaxy A-series models, according to a report by SamMobile. The rollout will begin with a couple of A-series phones launched in 2024, namely the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35, with a broader release in the near future. The report says that older Galaxy A-series phones might not get Galaxy AI features due to hardware limitations.

Moreover, the report also mentions that not all Galaxy AI features will come to these mid-range Samsung phones, and there will be some limitations. However, it doesn’t clarify which Galaxy AI features will land on these devices or which won’t. Furthermore, the report also says that these A-series phones will receive these features through the One UI 6.1.1 update, which could roll out by September.

Samsung Galaxy AI features

There are a slew of AI features that Samsung offers with its flagship phones and foldables. Here are some of those Galaxy AI features:

Samsung Galaxy S24 AI features
  • Circle to search: Long-press the home button or menu bar and circle something onscreen to search it online.
  • Live translate: It allows for real-time vocal language translation during calls.
  • Photo assist: Like Google’s Magic Editor, the Galaxy AI’s photo assist allows you to change or remove elements from a photograph.

It’s unclear if all these features will come to these Galaxy A-series phones. However, we expect to learn more about it in the coming days.
