We recently compared the OnePlus Nord 4 (review) and OPPO Reno 12 (review) against each other in a head-to-head performance comparison. Now let’s do a battery comparison between both phones to find out which device delivers longer battery life and faster charging speed.

PCMark test
The PCMark test helps us estimate the time it takes for a smartphone’s battery to drop under 20 percent from full capacity. We run the test at an 80 percent brightness level, and it works by playing a continuous video loop until the battery falls below the threshold.
The OnePlus Nord 4 registered a score of 16 hours and 58 minutes on the test, while the OPPO Reno 12 registered a time of 12 hours and 18 minutes on the test. Going by the benchmark results, the OnePlus Nord 4’s battery lasts significantly longer, and thus the smartphone should offer better life in everyday usage.

Video streaming test
For the streaming test, we played the same YouTube video on both devices for 30 minutes each. To create a standard testing field, we set the volume and brightness levels at 50 percent each for both devices.
The OnePlus Nord 4 showcased a higher drain of 5 percent in the test, compared to the OPPO Reno 12, which drained 4 percent. This can be attributed to the higher brightness level of the former’s display panel, which significantly drains the battery.
Winner: OPPO Reno 12
Gaming test
For the gaming test, we ran BGMI, COD: Mobile and Real Racing 3 on both phones for 30 minutes each at similar graphical settings. The OnePlus Nord 4 registered an aggregate drain of 19 percent (6.3 percent average), while the OPPO Reno 12 registered an aggregate drain of 26 percent (8.6 percent average) during the test. The OnePlus Nord 4’s battery is substantially more resilient compared to the OPPO Reno 12 when it comes to gaming.
Winner: OnePlus Nord 4
Charging speed
There’s not a large margin between the fast charging support of both phones. The OnePlus Nord 4 is slightly ahead with 100W fast charging, while the OPPO Reno 12 offers 80W fast charging.
The difference in real world, however, is not insignificant. The OnePlus Nord 4 takes only 24 minutes to recharge from 20 percent to full capacity, while the OPPO Reno 12 takes 40 minutes to achieve the same.
Winner: OnePlus Nord 4
Verdict
The OnePlus Nord 4 is the clear winner in the performance comparison against the OPPO Reno 12 in this battery comparison. It delivers better benchmark results in terms of battery life and reflects the same when it comes to the battery drain observed during the gaming test.
The phone also exceeds the OPPO Reno 12 when it comes to fast charging support, taking roughly half the time to get to a full charge. If you’re looking for a smartphone under Rs 35,000 and want a phone that offers robust battery life and charging speed, the OnePlus Nord 4 is the better choice between the two.
