HEAVY rain is set to lash Scotland overnight as the wait for a summer heatwave continues.
Wet weather is set to lash the country on Sunday.
And now the Met Office has issued a series of yellow weather warnings for rain with up to 40mm of rain set to hit much of the west coast stretching from Inverness-shire to Dumfries-shire.
Forecasters say as much as 75mm could fall across higher ground in Lochaber, Argyll, the Trossachs and parts of Dumfries-shire.
The warnings are in place from 3am to 9pm on Monday.
And it’s believed flooding could hit homes and camp sites in Central, Tayside and Fife, Highland and Islands, south west Scotland, Lothian and Borders as well as western and southern parts of Strathclyde.
Strong and gusty southerly winds will accompany the rain and there is the possibility of the odd rumble of thunder too.
Despite the stormy and wet weather, forecasters are predicting that many parts of the country will see high temperatures.
Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh are expected to see highs of 20C during the day and could see lows of 11C.
Although, some parts of the country such as the Scottish Borders could see a minimum of 12C with largely cloudy weather.

The Met Office say that while there were regional variations in rainfall totals, Scotland overall received 87.3mm (less than three and a half inches) of rain during July.
This was just 84 per cent of what would normally be expected in the month.
Similarly, providing further evidence of a gloomy summer, the total of sunshine hours was 15 per cent short of what it should be.
It comes after temperatures hit a scorching 32C in London.
But throughout the whole of July, certain places in Scotland have only managed to breach the mid-20s.
Floors Castle in the Borders managed to record 25.2C on July 19, far from the record of 34.8C set two years ago.
