Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha box office collection on day 1 witnessed a slow start. The movie managed to earn only Rs 2 crore.
Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s romantic saga Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha finally hit the big screens on August 2, 2024. While fans were eager to watch both actors once again on the big screen, the box office results seemed completely different from what was expected. According to the official industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie only earned Rs 2 crore on the opening day.
Helmed by Neeraj Pandey, the movie created a stir when the trailer of the film was released. Less than 5,000 tickets were sold prior to the film’s premiere, and by 4 pm on opening day, only Rs. 38 lakh were collected. This indicates a low 6 per cent occupancy in morning screenings. However, as compared to other Bollywood releases this week, Ajay Devgn-starrer minted a little more. Earlier this week, Sudhanshu Saria’s spy thriller Ulajh, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah, was also released on the big screens, and the movie only collected Rs. 1.10 crore on its first day.
Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha marked Tabu and Ajay’s 10th film together. To illustrate the growth in opening day box office collections, let’s consider the films featuring Ajay Devgn and Tabu. Their 2015 crime thriller, Drishyam, directed by Nishikant Kamat, generated an opening day revenue of Rs. 5.8 crore.
However, its sequel, Drishyam 2, helmed by Abhishek Pathak in 2022, witnessed a substantial increase, tripling the opening day collection to Rs.15.38 crore. This upward trend is further exemplified by their 2017 comedy, Golmaal Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. Benefiting from its Diwali release, the film’s opening day earnings doubled that of Drishyam 2, reaching a substantial Rs. 30 crore.

Earlier, the movie was supposed to hit the big screens on July 5, 2024. However, the makers took the decision to postpone the release “on the request of the exhibitors and the distribution fraternity” since it was slated for one week following the release of Nag Ashwin’s massive dystopian science fiction epic Kalki 2898 AD.
