The critically acclaimed prequel series, House of the Dragon, has once again fallen victim to online piracy. A significant portion of the Season 2 finale, scheduled to air on August 4, has been leaked online, just days before its official release. The leak, which surfaced on TikTok on July 30th night, comprises approximately 30 minutes of footage spread across multiple videos. While the TikTok account responsible for the leak has been removed, the clips have rapidly spread across other platforms like Twitter, now called X and Reddit.

This is not the first time House of the Dragon has faced such a breach. The Season 1 finale also leaked online in 2022, with HBO later attributing the incident to a distribution partner in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa. The network had opted not to send screeners for the Season 2 finale to journalists in an effort to prevent such leaks, but it appears these measures have been unsuccessful.
The issue of leaks has been a persistent problem for HBO, particularly during the run of Game of Thrones. Multiple episodes from the show’s final season appeared on illegal sites, and even legitimate platforms made the episodes available prematurely.
The penultimate episode saw the Blacks gaining significant ground. The introduction of Dragonseeds to the fold, with individuals like Hugh Hammer and Ulf White claiming the formidable dragons Vermithor and Silverwing respectively, has dramatically shifted the balance of power. Rhaenyra’s strategic acumen is evident as she recognizes the potential of these Targaryen bastards, assembling an unlikely but potent force.
With three additional dragons under her command, Rhaenyra’s confidence is palpable. However, the Greens are far from defeated. Aemond, the rider of Vhagar, is rallying his forces, including a call to arms for his sister, Helaena, to ride Dreamfyre.
The trailer offers glimpses of the impending conflict, with shots of naval fleets and burning structures hinting at the scale of the upcoming battle. Speculation is rife that the highly anticipated Battle of the Gullet could be the climactic showdown that will determine the fate of Westeros.
House of the Dragon, much like its predecessor Game of Thrones, is known for its spectacular battle sequences. From the brutal fight at Hardhome to the heart-stopping Battle of the Bastards, the series has delivered unforgettable moments of warfare.
