Reports have emerged of a spat between Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller and Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau over training ground misconduct.
According to the King Fut website, Tau has missed Al Ahly’s last three matches – against Pyramids FC, Al Masry and Cleopatra FC – sitting on the bench in favour of Hussein El-Shahat, Reda Slim, and Afsha.

During Al Ahly’s most recent victory over Cleopatra FC, Koller even opted to use midfielder Emam Ashour on the left wing instead of Tau, who is more familiar with the position.
Training ground misconduct
This comes despite Taher Mohamed’s injury, which left Koller with just a handful of options on both wings, forcing the Swiss coach to select 19-year-old Mohamed Abdallah in the team.
According to respected presenter, Medhat Shalaby, Tau’s absence is due to a fallout between both parties over training ground conduct.
“Recently Marcel Koller has entered into a new clash with Percy Tau,” Shalaby said.
“Tau trains carelessly and sometimes leaves group training sessions, claiming injuries to be the reason.
“This issue annoys Koller and led to Tau being excluded from the starting lineup.
“Percy Tau has been training carelessly after learning that Koller informed the club’s board of his desire for the player to leave next summer,” he added.
Al Ahly coasting to Egyptian title
Neither Al Ahly nor Marcel Koller confirmed the reports and it’s yet to be seen whether Percy Tau will have a role in the upcoming games as the Reds are closing in on the Egyptian Premier League title.
Al Ahly have a three-point lead atop the standings as well as two matches in hand over nearest challengers Pyramids.
Percy Tau has joined Al Ahly in August 2021 from Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported fee of €1.8 million, helping the club win nine trophies, including two CAF Champions League titles.
Overall, Tau has made 107 appearances for Al Ahly, scoring 26 goals while providing 13 assists across all competitions.
