Dhanush Banned from Doing Movies After TFPC Alleges Actor Received Advance and Didn’t Appear on Set

Tamil actor, Dhanushreceived a notice from the TFPC which cites that he is not allowed to embark on any new film ventures until he successfully wraps up those he’s already gotten paid for, as announced on July 29.

Key players from various corners of the Tamil Cinema world, such as the Film Producers’ Council, Theatre Owners Group, Multiplex Owners Alliance, and Distributors’ Union, huddled together for a meeting this past Monday. The aim? To spark conversation and lay down concrete plans that would propel the industry forward.

Taking into account rising production costs and the salaries of actors, the council is committed to finalizing all underway projects regardless of their current phase of development. From August 15, no new filming will kick-off, in fact, all film-related actions have temporarily been put on hold. The goal is to wrap up all ongoing productions by the end of October. Thereafter, starting November 1, there will be a full stop to all film shootings.

Several performers and crew members have accepted upfront payments from various production houses but have failed to appear for the filming sessions. This issue has been brought up, particularly referencing actor and director Dhanush. The Council has thus resolved to impose certain limitations on Dhanush. They have advised the producers of his upcoming film to obtain prior approval before featuring him in their project.

It appears that renowned actor Dhanush might be on the brink of a setback due to a crucial call made by the Tamil Film Producers Council. A rising wave of apprehensions is being voiced by numerous film production companies regarding Dhanush. They claim that the actor has been amassing advances yet postponing the film production process in pursuit of superior monetary gains from Telugu film producers.

In the recent gathering, folks deliberated on how streaming movies prematurely on digital platforms significantly affects cinema attendance, causing a hefty blow to both the exhibitors and distributors’ pockets. To mitigate this, the council has thoughtfully decided to delay the release of superstar-studded movies on these platforms by a solid 8 weeks post their traditional theatre release. The idea here is to lure back the audience to the cinemas and keep the cash registers ringing for a longer period.
