Olympics DELETES Opening Ceremony off YouTube after backlash

The Olympics have deleted the Opening Ceremony from their official YouTube channel and issued warnings to social media users to do the same. This follows an overwhelming backlash to the performance based on its controversial nature.

Unlike previous ceremonies, the Paris 2024  games trended for all the wrong reasons.

Segments of the show included trans people, drag queens, and children who were accused of “mocking” Christianity. This included a parody of “The Last Supper” and several other references to the religion.

The news comes after a major sponsor pulled out following the social media scandal.

OLYMPICS DELETE OPENING CEREMONY OFF YOUTUBE

After trending on social media for hours, the Olympics quietly deleted its Opening Ceremony from its official YouTube account.

The video was also deleted from the Olympics website and all their social media accounts.

“This video is not available” read a message across a black screen where the video previously was.

On X, many users have been complaining about being issued Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notices for deleted clips of the Opening Ceremony. Some tweeps even had their accounts suspended after not adhering to the warning.

@bricsinfo tweeted: “Due to copyright infringement, we have been forced to delete our posts about the Olympics opening ceremony featuring drag queens. Are the Olympics ashamed of what they broadcasted publicly to the world?”

The Olympics and Paris 2024 have yet to address their decision to pull the Opening Ceremony.

Meanwhile, US telecommunications and technology company C Spire confirmed it would be pulling all its advertising from the Olympics following the controversial Opening Ceremony.

It posted in a statement: “We were shocked by the mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics. C Spire will be pulling our advertising from the Olympics”.
