NEW YORK, July 12 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.33 percent to 104.093 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro added to 1.0906 U.S. dollars from 1.0868 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.2989 U.S. dollars from 1.2913 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 157.92 Japanese yen, lower than 158.75 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.8947 Swiss francs from 0.8955 Swiss francs, and it dropped to 1.3630 Canadian dollars from 1.3632 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 10.5283 Swedish kronor from 10.4980 Swedish kronor.
