A 70-YEAR-OLD rock climber was airlifted to hospital after a dramatic rescue from a cliff face in Outer Hebrides.
The woman fell around 30 feet after apparently being hit by a rock while scaling the cliff at Vatersay.
Barra Lifeboat was launched at 5.54pm on Friday, but in a two-and-a-half hour rescue, the Stornoway-based coastguard search and rescue helicopter managed to winch her from the cliff to nearby Barra from where a Helimed took her to hospital in Glasgow.
Her condition is unknown.
The alarm was raised by her climbing partner and the woman was suspended on a rope after being hit by the rock.
Meanwhile a 60-year-old man was taken by Oban Lifeboat to hospital after collapsing at Kerrera.
He was taken to the the Lorn and Islands Hospital in the Argyll town. His condition is unknown.
