South Yorkshire Police said in a statement: “We have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of public order offenses following disorder in Barnsley town center today.”
They added: “It is believed that the man threw objects from a nearby construction area. A suspect was quickly detained and remains in police custody.”
“My huge thanks to South Yorkshire Police today,” Farage wrote on X. “I will not be bullied or cowed by a violent left-wing mob who hate our country.”
He later added: “These people want to stop my election campaign. That’s never going to happen.”
It comes after a woman was charged with assault after a milkshake was thrown over Farage — whose return to frontline politics has spooked the governing Tories — in Clacton earlier this month.
