Batman The Long Halloween: The Last Halloween brings readers back to Gotham City. The debut issue finds the city afraid of Halloween due to some terrible events. Jim Gordon’s life is threatened, and Batman and Robin’s partnership is put to the test. Can anyone really be trusted in a city swarming with masked vigilantes and liars? That is what this ten-part mystery is going to solve as it unfurls.

While Loeb is joined by Eduardo Risso, Dave Stewart, and Richard Starkings for the debut, a roster of artists is in the wings for later issues. They include Klaus Janson of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight fame. Also joining in on the fun is Mark Chiarello known for Batman: Black and White. More artists are expected to be announced at a later date.

A Parting Gift

Back in 1996, Tim Sale and Jeph Loeb debuted Batman: The Long Halloween. The story became a huge success going on to win awards and spinning out into multiple other series. It was even adapted for both film and television. Now, it all comes to an end. Loeb, speaking about Batman The Long Halloween: The Last Halloween calls it a parting gift from Sale. Both creators had already decided to tell the final chapter after Batman: The Long Halloween Special, which serves as a prologue for this new series.

Batman The Long Halloween: The Last Halloween #1 is on sale 09/25.
