A stampede-like situation prevailed in the joint public meeting of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav at Phulpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on Sunday. Both the leaders left the venue without addressing the crowd.

The incident took place at a public meeting at Padila in Phulpur Parliamentary constituency where Congress and SP workers reportedly got out of control and attempted to climb the stage.

Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi repeatedly urged party workers and the public to calm down but to no avail. Police and security personnel struggled to control the excited crowd.
