Eggs are a breakfast favourite on the weekend but if you are hoping to start the day as healthy as possible, a nutritionist has shared her “go-to” breakfast which is full of benefits. As well as being high in protein, the dish also enjoys some added healthy fats.
To make things even better, the recipe is ideal if you are heading out for the day and need a quick snack as it can be made in less than 10 minutes.
The recipe was shared by nutritionist Emily English who shares tips, tricks and recipes to TikTok under the username @emthenutritionist.
“These are a go-to breakfast for me, my chopped egg crisp breads, and they couldn’t be more simple,” Emily explained.
“Simply boil two eggs and mix with yoghurt, salt, pepper, fresh basil, lemon zest, some juice and a little bit of avocado. Top two crisp breads, a little bit more fresh basil and some chives.”
In the video, Emily shows a visual step-by-step guide to making the high-protein breakfast. She begins by boiling eggs in a pan before peeling them. Next, she chops the boiled eggs into small pieces and adds them to a bowl.
Now, it’s time to chop up some avocado into small pieces, again adding this into the bowl with a blob of yoghurt.
Emily further adds salt, pepper, fresh basil, lemon zest and some lemon juice for flavour before mixing everything together.
Then, simply top two crispbreads with the mixture. For an added protein boost, Emily uses a further boiled egg which she cuts in half and places once half on each of the crisp breads. She also adds some chives to the top of the crisp bread for added flavour.
‘Ultimate’ boiled egg hack
If you are planning on making boiled eggs, another TikTok creator claims to have discovered the “ultimate” way to peel an egg – and you don’t have to do it by hand.
TikTok video creator @themodernnonna shared the video on her page, showing the step-by-step guide to removing your eggshell with ease.
The hack uses a combination of boiling water and cold water to create an environment that lets the shell glide right off.
Once you have boiled your eggs for 10 minutes, the creator recommends placing them directly into a plastic container filled with ice water. Make sure that the container has a secure lid.
She then closes the lid and shakes, saying: “the peel will come right off.”
