Greggs is planning to open six more of its popular bakery outlet shops in the UK.
The leading bakery chain’s outlet stores sell its unsold bakery goods at a reduced price in a bid to help it cut food waste.
Greggs opened 10 new bakery outlets in 2022 and has said it plans to have 50 shops open by the end of 2025.
A spokesperson said: “The new shops mean that every one of our food manufacturing sites now has an Outlet shop nearby allowing us to redistribute surplus food from our production sites, as well as unsold food from our shops.
“By the end of 2025, we will have 50 Greggs Outlet shops providing affordable food in areas of social deprivation.”
Discounted items often include some of Greggs’ most popular items such as steak bakes, sausage rolls and baguettes.
Sausage rolls can be sold for under 50p, a huge discount on a product that usually costs over £1.
Prices vary across Greggs shops and the bakery chain opens its outlets in areas of high social deprivation.
