Marvel is getting fans hyped for the upcoming X-Men relaunch by showing off its flagship series. The publisher has given X-Men artist Ryan Stegman the greenlight to preview two full pages of art from the upcoming series. Eagle-eyed fans will notice this art from the X-Men relaunch announcement trailer. However, this is the first time the art has been presented as full comic pages. Stegman’s art is also the first-time fans see this new group of X-Men in action under the leadership of Cyclops.
A New Status Quo
These preview pages show off one of three new group of X-Men guiding readers through the X-Men relaunch. For Stegman’s series, Cyclops is leading a group of mutants based out of a remote Alaskan headquarters. His art shows off this new HQ and it is a far cry from the lush and powerful setting of Krakoa. Still, the mutants of Marvel are still alive and working to re-establish themselves in a post-Orchis world.
The rest of the preview art pages show Cyclops in a Blackbird jet alongside Kid Omega and Psylocke. The rest of the panels give us a glimpse at the full X-Men series lineup in a group shot. This includes Cyclops, Beast, Magneto, Psylocke, Kid Omega, Temper, Magik, and Juggernaut. Each member giving a pose that says they are ready to take on the world and what is has to offer. Stegman’s art is a fresh take on the much-loved mutants. It blends both the classic feel of the characters with some fresh artistic touches.
X-Men Relaunch
During this year’s SXSW, Marvel revealed its plans for the X-Men relaunch taking place this summer. Alongside the teased mutant-centric series, two other titles will guide readers through the X-Men: From the Ashes event. Joining Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman’s series is Uncanny X-Men from Gail Simone and David Marquex as well as Exceptional X-Men from Eve Ewing and Carmen Carnero. These three series will take the mutants back to their roots while exploring what it means to be an X-Man in this new age.
X-Men #1 is on sale on July 10th.
