Seed potatoes are potatoes bought for the purpose of propagating. They must have an eye, from which the new potato grows.
When planting, the eye should be facing up. Place the seed potatoes in a trench that is a few inches deep and cover with soil. As the plant grows, continually mound up soil on the sides of the stems until it’s several inches tall.
Another method is to plant the potatoes two to three inches deep and spaced about two feet apart.
