PALE: ‘I ATE WHEN EVERYONE ATE’
The former Big Brother Mzansi contestant, Palesa Motanyane aka Pale reveals to Sunday World that the food issue was a narrative.
“Unfortunately, the narrative is very easy to follow when you are looking at someone who is bigger-bodied than the rest of the girls in the house.”
“It is easier for people to point out that a bigger person eats the most than the others or fights for food. I ate when everyone ate but because the big girl was eating, people would take snapshots of that,” she said.
Briefly reported earlier in February that viewers had enough of Motanyane’s selfishness when it came to food.
Her eating habits sparked a debate on social media as some thought that she is very greedy and should be evicted.
PLANS AFTER ‘BIG BROTHER MZANSI’
The 30-year-old business development manager tells Sowetan that she’s not saddened about being axed from Big Brother Mzansi.
“People [viewers] spoke about my weight and how much I’d eat, but I don’t think I ate more than the other housemates. Yes, I enjoyed cooking and I saw how much the other housemates liked my food, which gave me a thought that I should explore my options as a chef.”
Motanyane adds that she didn’t plan to react the way she did when she was evicted. It was genuine excitement and an internal reaction to the fact that she was going back into the real world.
Her excitement from leaving the house came from knowing that she was going to see her daughter and family. She hadn’t been away from her for that long without any communication whatsoever.
She’s rooting for either Mpumi or Mc Junior to win the grand prize of R2 million in the reality TV show.
