In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Supriya Pathak discussed the performance of Khichdi 2 in theaters and its recent transition to streaming on Zee5. The veteran actress shed light on the film’s reception and her perspective on its success.
EXCLUSIVE: Supriya Pathak shares insights on Khichdi 2’s box office performance; says, “It doesn’t really worry me”
Pathak, known for her role as Hansa in the beloved Khichdi, shared insights on the movie’s box office performance. She acknowledged the film’s success in Gujarat, attributing it to the audience’s familiarity with the franchise. While admitting its decent performance in Mumbai, she reflected on her own detachment from the business aspect, stating, “Personally, after being in this seat for such a long time, I don’t think these kinds of things really affect me in that sense. I would have loved it if it would have done great business, because that meant we would have reached out to more people, but my goal is always reaching out to my audiences.”
The seasoned actress expressed her primary goal of connecting with audiences, irrespective of the platform. She added, “If I can reach out in any way I can; if we can reach out through the OTT platform, if we can reach out through Zee5 as its coming now, if I can bring smiles on people’s face while they are watching it at home, it doesn’t really worry me. I am sure it worries the producers because they would like to have numbers at box office. But for me as a person, my whole thing was to entertain my audience and if that is done in whichever way it is, I think I have reached my purpose.”
Khichdi 2, featuring a stellar cast including Supriya Pathak Kapur, Rajeev Mehta, Anang Desai, Vandana Pathak, and Jamnadas Majethia, debuted in theaters on November 17, 2023. The comedy-drama, an extension of the iconic television series, made its streaming premiere on Zee5 starting February 9.
